Day 1 — When God Feels Quiet
Scripture
John 11:6 (NIV)
"So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days."
Reflection
Jesus loved them… so He stayed where He was. That’s hard to understand. We expect love to move quickly, but sometimes God’s love looks like waiting. His silence isn’t absence—it may be something deeper at work.
Questions
- Where in my life does God feel quiet right now?
- What assumptions am I making about His silence?
- How do I usually respond when I don’t see immediate answers?
Prayer
Loving Father, when I don’t hear You, help me not assume You’ve left me. Teach me to trust that You are still working, even in the silence.
Day 2 — Trust Before You See
Scripture
John 11:40 (NIV)
"Then Jesus said, 'Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?'"
2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV)
"For we live by faith, not by sight."
Reflection
Jesus tells Martha she will see God’s glory—but first, she has to believe. That’s the tension. We want proof first, but faith often comes before clarity. Waiting reveals whether we trust God or just outcomes.
Questions
- Do I tend to trust God only when things make sense?
- What feels uncertain in my life right now?
- What would it look like to trust before I see results?
Prayer
Breath Prayer:
Use this simple prayer when you feel stuck waiting or needing clarity.
Inhale: God who sees me
Exhale: Help me trust first
Day 3 — Faith and Frustration
Scripture
John 11:21 (NIV)
"'Lord,' Martha said to Jesus, 'if you had been here, my brother would not have died.'"
Reflection
Martha believed in Jesus—but she was also disappointed. Both can exist at the same time. You don’t have to hide your frustration from God. Honest faith brings both trust and questions.
Questions
- Where do I feel tension between faith and frustration?
- Have I been honest with God about how I feel?
- What would it look like to bring my real thoughts to Him?
Prayer
Jesus, You see both my belief and my frustration. Help me bring all of it to You honestly, knowing You meet me in it.
Day 4 — God Is Doing More
Scripture
John 11:4 (NIV)
"When he heard this, Jesus said, 'This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.'"
Romans 8:28 (NIV)
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
Reflection
What looked like an ending was actually a setup for something greater. God often works in ways we don’t recognize in the moment. Waiting doesn’t mean nothing is happening—it may mean more is happening than we can see.
Questions
- Where might God be working in ways I don’t understand?
- What situation feels “too far gone” right now?
- How would my perspective shift if I believed God was still moving?
Prayer
Breath Prayer:
Pause for a moment today and use this prayer when things feel unclear.
Inhale: God who is working
Exhale: You’re not finished yet
Day 5 — Step Into New Life
Scripture
John 11:43–44 (NIV)
"When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, 'Lazarus, come out!' The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, 'Take off the grave clothes and let him go.'"
Colossians 3:9–10 (NIV)
"Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator."
Reflection
Lazarus walked out alive—but still wrapped in grave clothes. Sometimes we experience new life but keep holding onto old patterns, fears, or lies. Jesus invites us not just to be alive—but to live free.
Questions
- What “grave clothes” might I still be holding onto?
- What’s one area where I need to live differently?
- What step could I take this week toward freedom?
Prayer
God of new life, thank You that You don’t leave me where I was. Give me courage to let go of what’s holding me back and step into what You’ve given me.
Final Invitation
As you move through this week, don’t do it in isolation. If you’re in Tallahassee, we’d love for you to join us Sunday as we continue following Jesus together.
